Kalamazoo's Annual Egg Hunt 2022

CJ Hurley, director of corporate partnerships for the Kalamazoo Growlers , counted down into the microphone as children bolted through cones and stuffed their woven baskets, plastic bags and sand buckets full of multicolored eggs that littered the outfield at Homer Stryker Field.

The Annual Egg Hunt had returned and nothing would get between these kids and their candy.

But the April 16, 2022 event featured much more than an egg hunt.

Easter-themed games and activities such as “Chick-Tack-Toe,” “Bunny Bowling,” and “Egg and Spoon Race,” entertained families in attendance while they waited for their wave to grab the eggs.

Disney princesses gave hugs and took photos with excited families and starry-eyed children.

There were also stands for the Kalamazoo Candle Company, Kalamazoo Valley Museum, Children’s Nature Playscape along with a bouncy house and speed pitch provided by the Kalamazoo Growlers.

Shannon Keene, Special Event Coordinator for the City of Kalamazoo, was surprised at the large turnout.

“We were not expecting this many people to come out,” Keene said. “After being cooped up for two years, this is great to see this many people out having fun.”

Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation partnered with the Kalamazoo Growlers to put on the event with sponsorship from Advia Credit Union.

Without their help, the boxes full of candy, gift bags and even bicycles would not have been available as rewards for the egg hunt.
